SOPHIE H., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENTS, DIRECTOR OF FLIGHT OPERATIONS
Sophie earned all of her ratings through our flight school, from private to CFII. She also earned her B25 SIC rating last year, and is passionate about warbirds. She has been instructing with us for 3 years and has accumulated over 1000 hours of instructional time. Sophie loves lighting the same spark for aviation in others that she found in herself years ago.
PAUL H., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENTS, CHIEF PILOT
Paul is a retired LtCol of the United States Marine Corps. He flew both F18s and F35s, and currently flies Hawker Hunters for an adversary company. Paul is our multi engine instructor, helping many candidates transitioning out of the military with the required ratings to get to the airlines.
NICK D., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENTS
Nick is a full-time state employee, and a part-time instructor. He will look for any excuse to get into the air and loves teaching, as well as imparting his passion for flying in others. Nick started flying in 2001, and also serves as a mission pilot and instructor for the Civil Air Patrol, performing various search and rescue, and emergency service responsibilities for them.
BILL G., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENTS
A proud 180 owner, Bill retired from Netjets and now spends his time instructing here at BFT. During the summers, Bill hops in his airplane and flies across the country venturing as far as Idaho, or Alaska. If you are a sailing aficionado, Bill is your guy to help you relate it to flying.
DAN A., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR INSTRUMENTS
Dan discovered his love of flying while in the military, and earned his private pilot license. Upon leaving the military, he obtained his additional ratings, to include his CFI certificate. Since that time, he has been awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award recognizing 50 years of safe piloting. In addition to instructing with BFT, Dan works as a flight instructor for both the Beaufort and Hilton Head CAP squadrons, and is an FAA SC safety team representative. When he is not in the air, you can find Dan either biking or running, as he is our resident fitness enthusiast.
KEVIN R., CERTIFICATED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR
Kevin started flying in Oregon 17 years ago. While working his full-time job, he proceeded through his instrument, commercial, and flight instructor certificates. When he was living in Hawaii, he even managed to land on every Hawaiian island. He has also logged tailwheel time, multi-engine time, and flown some aerobatics. He has flown at various airports all over the country, and his search for flying adventure continues.
