Upon leaving the military, he obtained his additional ratings, to include his CFI certificate. Since that time, he has been awarded the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award recognizing 50 years of safe piloting. In addition to instructing with BFT, Dan works as a flight instructor for both the Beaufort and Hilton Head CAP squadrons, and is an FAA SC safety team representative.
